Higher Nature say that Holford’s “place has been taken over by more highly qualified doctors and scientists”

LeeT (who comments on this blog) e-mail me about the October issue of Higher Nature’s catalogue [PDF file] – definitely an interesting read. Apparently, they are

saying goodbye to Patrick Holford this month. Patrick has acted as a consultant to Higher Nature for a number of years but has now moved on, as his place has been taken over by more highly qualified doctors and scientists working at Higher Nature (p. 2).

That’s an interesting way of saying goodbye to a valued colleague – I wonder what the atmosphere was like at Holford’s leaving do, if of course there was a leaving party…

  1. How did Holford get a start in nutrition? Wasn’t it by hooking up with B & C Wright of Higher Nature?? Is this a case of the sorceror sacking the apprentice? Shame, they made a great team!

“more highly qualified doctors and scientists”

So, that would be anyone with more than a 2:2 in psychology?

jdc325 – presumably he left them. Can’t imagine them ditching a big “brand” like him …

andy – they claim to have recruited more highly qualified doctors and scientists. The newsletter mentions a few new relatively junior recruits, but I am not sure who the new big hitters are to replace Patrick. If Higher Nature read this blog perhaps they would like to let us know …

Not so long ago, with the help of Patrick Holford, “The London Evening Standard” did a scientific test about whether Sanatgogen or Higher Nature had the better vitamin supplements – http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-7971712-details/Do+vitamins+really+work/article.do Surprise, surprise the ones from Higher Nature came out on top. What I would like to know is whether, in future, he will be recommending Higher Nature or Biocare where he is now the head of science?

I think he was a consultant at Higher Nature rather than a salaried employee. In the recent ASA adjudication 100% Health “pointed out that they did not sell nutritional supplements”. Presumably, in future that defence will not be available in future given Mr Holford’s relationship with Biocare. Incidentally, used the search criteria on the Biocare website asking for “Patrick Holford. A message came back saying “Sorry, your search criteria returned no results,” despite the fact they have a range of supplements named …errr… Patrick Holford. It’s a funny ole world isn’t it?
